Henry L. Beach of Montrose was an important maker of scrollsaws under his own name, and, briefly, as part of Beach, Brown & Co., which added a tablesaw to Beach's original lineup. It appears that the Beach, Brown & Co. partnership dissolved about 1891. Henry L. then resumed making scrollsaws under his own name, and his son, Harry Wilbur Beach, took over manufacture of the tablesaw, and perhaps other machines. At that time Harry was a mechanical engineering student. A few years later, perhaps shortly after he graduated in 1895, Harry joined his father's business. He took over full control in October of 1897.

  • Tablesaw, very clearly labeled "H. W. Beach Manufacturer / Montrose, Pa., U.S.A."
  • An 1890 Beach & Brown ad shows a tablesaw that is a close match to the H. W. Beach tablesaw.
  • A genealogical website, with information provided by Eugene H. Beach, Jr., provided this bio of Harry Wilber: "He attended Lehigh University, graduating in 1895 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He thereafter began work in his father's machine tool business, assuming full control in October, 1897."
