Ellis E. Brown founded Brown Engineering Co. in 1905. Brown designed several products which the company manufactured, including line-shaft clutches, quick-change machine vises, flexible shaft couplings, and a sectional industrial storage rack (still manufactured today). At some point, Brown was also the licensed manufacturer and distributor of Jackson's Utility Vise. See also Jackson Vise & Tool Co.
