The Jackson Vise & Tool Co. manufactured the "Utility" machine vise in 1910, and a line of machinists' patented sectional jaw and combination pipe vises in 1908. The company's ads gave its location as New York City but the company's plant and headquarters were in Vineland, NJ. The firm was absorbed by Easton Tool & Machine Co. in January 1912.
A machinist's vise manufactured by this firm was patented by Charles J. Jackson of Vineland, NJ, and we assume that he was the company founder. Based on patent records, Jackson lived in Erie, Pa., until at least 1902, then he was in Vineland 1910-1912, and in 1916 he was in Easton, Pa.
