In 1868 Henry O. Lothrop, A. Mead and O. W. Mead were partnered in Lothrop, Mead & Co. which was operating the New England Steam Engine Co. at 108 Sudbury St. in Boston. The Meads were also involved in a grocery store and we speculate that they were investors in a business run Henry O. Lothrop, who held a patent for a steam engine regulator. By 1873 Lothrop was a partner in steam-engine maker Huntoon & Lothrop.
