In 1867 Huntoon & Lothrop, a partnership of Lafayette Huntoon and Henry O. Lothrop, was building steam engines in Milford, MA. By 1873 Lafeyette had partnered with his son, Elwin C. Huntoon; Lafayette Huntoon & Son were manufacturing steam engines in Boston. By the late 1870s that business had been sold to Charles H. Hunt, who relocated it to South Boston in the fall of 1879.
