About 1896, B. Frank Barnes, one of three brothers behind the W. F. & John Barnes Co., left that company and established the B. F. Barnes Co. In 1907 B. F. Barnes was forced out of his own company by his partners, H. C. Marsh and S. H. Reck. At that time, B. F. Barnes Co. was renamed to Rockford Drilling Machine Co. We have seen drill presses bearing this company's name.
