1944 Monarch UniPoint currently under power in my shop. Saw was taken down, cleaned and repainted a proper gray, and has been in operation since. When I bought the saw it had just suffered an accident to the guard that had been braze-repaired and a crack in the spring mount that was professionally welded; neither has had any apparent effect on functionality. Bearings in the Master motor have about 10 hours on them. The ladder bearings are the originals but seem ok; I never had a problem with them, anyway.
The table is not a copy of the original. Since I used the saw primarily for cutoff, dado, cut-to-length, and some straightforward angle cutting, I built a good flat maple table that, with the removal of the rear wedge and table section (see photo) and the use of the two wooden wedges pictured in another photo, returns the saw's ability to cut compound angles.
The saw comes with 16" Forrest Woodworker I blade and 8" dampner, a nice Allen-Bradley 709 starter with remote switch near handle, about 10' SJOOW cord and a Hubble twist-lock plug. (If you look up current value of these items, you might find the saw a serious bargain.)
I know how much we abhor plug-n-play machines, so there is still room for work on this saw. I had been meaning to contact Northfield and order wipers for the ram, perhaps install a new sheet metal ram shield and arm retractor, &c., but never got around to it. I think the table could use some tweaking to eliminate minor heeling. You can also build a new table to match the original.
