One of the earlier versions of the Greenlee 227 for sale. I have this machine wired to two programmed VFDs in an enclosure for it to run off single phase service. It has the added benefit of variable speed on the drive motor. 2 HP feed motor with a 4HP motor powering the drill head. This machine was purchased with the optional table and optional tall fence. The table glides smoothly in all directions and without slop. The table stops are adjustable and included. The workpiece hold downs are also both intact. The feed motor leather belt still functions, but is clearly getting a little old and worn. Probably worth the $100+/- to replace it for the next 50 years of this machine's life. Finally, i have a box of forrest city and Greenlee tooling. 12 chisels ranging from 1" down to 1/4", matching augers, a handful of collets and bushings for all the above sizes of chisels and augers. Overall, the machine doesnt disappoint in its operation and 'cool' factor. It is a great piece of history in the shop and is a treat to operate. Ive only ever used the floor standing mortisers with an arm lever. After 3 mortises they are a chore to operate. The Greenlee would make an 8 hour day of mortising a breeze. The machine is located in the garage of my home. We have access to power to test it, and i have a pallet jack to get it out of the garage and into the driveway. With adequate help, i can assist you into loading this onto a low trailer with a ramp. Hate to see it go, but i have a very young family and it will be a handful of years before i am back in the shop in a meaningful way. Trying to downsize ahead of that. |
