Vintage Van Norman Machine Tool Co./ Waltham Watch Tool Company metal lathe. Includes Jack Shaft with lever for changing belt directions and selecting neutral. Tension on belt between Jack Shaft and lathe is adjusted using the rod with handle inserted through the bed of the lathe to the jack Shaft. Jack Shafts often get separated from the lathes during removal and this one clearly goes with this lathe. Sale includes chuck and all other accessories in pictures. Lathe has a light coat of oxidation/rust but has been soaked in WD-40 for the past 12-15 years. Spindle turns by hand but the entire lathe needs to be disassembled, cleaned and lubricated. Lathe consists of two beds, each capable of handling work about 24 " long for a total of 48" when the two beds are connected using the two dowels on the end of one bed and the two matching holes on the other. One web where the wood handle attaches to the Jack shaft arm is cracked/broken but no missing part and can be easily weld repaired.
