For a new home, a rather nice BOXFORD shaper. It is a bit nasty, but works fine as shown in the photos. Too much feed and probably too much cut, but, as you can see cuts tool steel rather nicely. Ground a cutter to round nose with an approximation of what it should be and made the first cut into the block, and then a few thousandths more on the return cut, with same feed. This nice Boxford is now "excess" to current needs, hence available for only $1600 loaded on your conveyance in Orange Park, Florida. That is $1600 as pictured, but less the block of tool steel and all the other tools in the tray. The vise has a bit of a cracked piece, but it works fine. It is dirty; I have cleaned some of it, and will do a complete cleaning but not painting at an additional cost, a lot of additional cost, as I don't want to do it, as there are other machines that need my attention. The Boxford is powered by a 120VAC single phase motor, which makes it rather convenient for about any shop. I know the cutter geometry is not correct, but just wanted to get a decent cutter and make a cut to test again the function. Shipping is available, with palletizing/skidding and packing at cost. But for need for space for other machines, would keep it around just to cut steel and watch/listen to the machine. |
