Up for sale is a 1880s era Fay & Scott Extendable Gap Bed lathe. There are 17 change gears, taper attachment, work steady, tool post and a 28" face plate that goes with the lathe. It has a double back gear setup, one set is missing but the other could be used to easily pattern. The lathe is 9 feet long and 4 feet tall as pictured. It will need some screw work on the cross and compound feeds. Not many of these around in this shape with the accessories. If listed, it is still for sale. No, you cannot text me a code for our safety. I will try to answer all legit questions as soon and honestly as I can. I do not have the counter shaft. The three step pulleys on the end are an alternate drive method for the lead screw. Fay & Scott held a patent on this arrangement and you could use the pulleys for low precision work and the change gears for higher precision work. |
