Picked this up a decade or so back with intent to restore and put into use but, well, it hasn't happened. It appears identical to the 18" engine lathe in their 1896 catalogue with the exception of a much longer bed. It has at the better part of a century of surface rust, not the stored outside under a tarp variety but rather the indoor but forgotten about sort. Headstock has a 1.5" through bore. 18" swing and 96" between centers. The head stock gearing moves very surprising smoothly and freely. The bed, ways, and advance crews are stiff but not frozen and we haven't stressed them to avoid damage. Appears to be mostly complete missing only a few handles but I am not knowledge about the machine. Has a few face plates and a three jaw chuck. Have no idea of its value and am open to reasonable offers. |
