Oliver 51B Wood lathe made in late 1926. Was original purchased by the Reading PA school district. Might have been for shop class.
This model has the Kimble Variable speed dome head to adjust from 1200 rpm to 3600 rpm. This is one of the earliest 51Bs with the Kimble 1/2 hp motor. Can be wired 110V or 220V (don’t know how to change to 110V honestly, but the name plate says it’s possible)
Restored with every part and fastener cleaned and rust protected. All bearing cleaned and packed with new grease. Rewired switches and speed governor including safety ground. Repainted original black.
New Nova G3 chuck
I have some old lathe chisels, but they need a good sharpening.
Bed length is 60”
Usable turning length is 36”
Max turning diameter is 12”
Wired for 220 with NEMA L6 20P
It was a great restoration project and runs great but I have no need for a lathe. |
