I purchased this saw about 12 years ago, totally disassembled it, thoroughly cleaned it and painted it this deep red.
I removed the tin shielding that was added to it sometime during its lifetime because I wanted to see the beauty of the wheels. I do not have that shielding anymore.
I also replaced the tires and edged them using the method in the photos of the restoration. The blade centers itself beautifully.
The saw is powered by a 1 HP Wagner Electric Corporation motor that is plenty powerful for everything I have run through the saw. I believe vintage motors like this one are much more powerful than modern Chinese made motors. Regardless, the motor comes with the saw. If anyone wants to use a different motor that is their decision. I use a foot pedal that is hinged for safety to turn the saw on and off.
I also melted and re-poured the Babbitts at that time and I have been using this saw for the last 10 years on a regular basis, sawing mostly hard woods. A couple of years ago I acquired a lot of Florida mahogany felled from Hurricane Irma and did a lot of re sawing. Photos also included of this in action with a custom made table top.
However, due to that aggressive sawing I believe the Babbitts need to be redone. This time if I do it I will purchase new Babbitt ingots, I believe grade 7 is appropriate, and replace the Babbitts completely.
I will sell the saw at the listing price if anyone is interested but if I do not get any inquiries I will do the Babbitt again but this will be reflected in a new selling price. I know there are a lot of enthusiasts out there that might prefer to do the Babbitts themselves.
If there is any interest please contact me and I will entertain all offers. I am listing this saw at this price because of the extensive restoration and painting I have done to it. Also reflected in the images is a table top I built. It includes the fence I made. I have videos of the saw in action here:
