Source=Owner's submission. This was my grandfather's (Cass Burris). During WWII he had a machine shop (subcontracted to make parts for the war) in his basement (in Detroit) with 5 lathes, 5 drill presses and some other machines. He employed the men to run them. At the end of the war, as part of his final payment, he took one set of the machines. He then started a musical instrument repair business. When I was in my early teens he taught the basics on how to use the lathe. |
