I recently purchased the vintage equipment from an estate sale on February 14, 2013. Family and friends of the deceased stated that the table saw was rarely in operation. Like the majority of photos that I have discovered, the equipment has the ability to withstand years of neglect with serious signs of cosmetic rust, but to my surprise with an ample amount of scrubbing with steel wool the table top along with rip fence guide rails had the destiny of returning to showroom quality. All the remaining accessories are available, even the original Rockwell 10" combination blade No 33-247 in which I plan to turn into a wall clock. Even though the machine was in a climate control environment from an estimated time frame of the late 70's, the original belt showed no cracking or uneven wear marks. I lubricated the grease nipple on the bottom of the motor and fired up the switch. I allowed the motor to run for several minutes before making the first pass of rough cutting from its long hibernation. There was a slight vibration in the first thirty seconds, but then it began to sing like an angel. I will forward an updated photo once the full restoration has been completed. P.E. Becknell |
