Source=owner's submission. Owner's comments: Purchased used in 1986 with most of it's tooling. I am a 40 year (retired now) R&D machinist who worked freelance for many large well known companies (i.e.. Bulova, Kola-Morgan, Memorial Sloan Catering) Over the years I replaced what was missing and also added a lot, so it is more then complete. In the last 1990'ies I took the whole lathe down and piece by piece took it to work and went through it. Giving every part a good Safety-Clean bath & scrubbing, repairing whatever needed fixing. The gray paint didn't need to be redone so I re-assembled it. Glad I didn't paint it, has that vintage look! Only thing I regret is that I didn't pursue having the bed scraped, it has .002 wear for 8 inches at the headstock which gives me a problem when turning long shafts. I am in my 60ies now and have lots of time to burn, that's why I am on here now writing this. Looking for more information on my lathe. I think that I will take it apart again if I can find someone to scrap the bed. Anyone out there that reads this and knows of a place to have it done please email me with the info at billhov@hotmail.com I would be most grateful. Also how about a vote on to re-paint or leave it stock, like I said the paint is not bad but looks over 50 years old. |
