Source=Owner's submission (admin added date based on s/n). Owner's notes: This lathe is more than 65 years old. My grandfather worked a career with GE co for 35 years as a tool and die maker. He passed away in 1962. It cost the bulk of the machinery in his personal workshop to rig the machinery out a 2nd floor window to a waiting flat bed trailer to be trucked back to Virginia. My father did not use it. After he passed (I'm now 74) I brought it to my shop south of Roanoke, Va on Bent Mountain. I used it sparingly, never really learning the craft. I produced bushings and trimmed hydraulic seal seats. One small motor armature was turned. All the minor projects were performed for use on our equipment, including our old 1957 John Deere 420 tractor. I wish now to sell it and have had difficulty determining its actual age / date of manufacture. Thanks for any help. |
