Source=Owner's submission (admin added date based on s/n). Owner's notes: Hi Brian,
I bought this lathe at an auction without seeing it run. When I got it home, I found the motor locked up and the 4-belt pulley was just flopping around on the spindle shaft. After installing new bearings, the motor started right up. The spindle had a .500 OD with a 5/32 keyway, and the pulley had a .625 ID with a .187 keyway. So, after making a bushing and splitting it for the keyway (that had to be manufactured to fit the two different sizes), and the installation of 4 new belts and a keyway set screw, the lathe is turning. I just got finished making new bushings for the carriage drive wheel shaft and the gear shaft that engages that shaft and the bed rack gear. Now it rides up and down the bed real nice. I just wanted to know about what year it was built. Thanks a bunch for any info. you can help me with. I'm a 72 year old retired toolmaker just playing in my shop, working on a couple of old cars and what ever the neighbors need fixed. All the Best, Sam Condo. |
