Source=email. Owner's notes: my lathe has a casting date of March 23, 1928, a serial number of 39786, and a model number of 31-R. 9' swing with 4.5' centers
I think its 1928 9|" student lathe with legs, but that model number is confusing to me as i cant see it anywhere in any of the literature from South Bend.
