This jointer was made by the American Machinery Co., not the Oliver Machinery Co. as entered by its owner However, it's the oldest "Oliver" jointer known to exist. It's got a bras tag with the number "6" on it, which I'd guess is an inventory tag of some sort. It's also got the number "306" stamped into a bearing cap, but I'm guessing this is not an S/N, either. Awaiting more info from the owner - who posted more pictures on 03/12/06. We now know that this is neither a Type "B" or Type "C" jointer, as shown in Catalog B. So, could it be a "Type A"? More pictures are available at Photo Index number 3898. |
