Nice restoration!!! 02/04/06 update - we'll now call this variant the "Type II-B", as Ray Muno reports: Internally, this motor differs quite a bit in layout compared to my earlier Type II. It is identical to the later variant with the spindle lock and brake but it lacks those features. The governor housing casting is different with the shaft being mounted to the governor head instead of a unit with the end bell. The bearing layout is different as are the brushes. So, this actually means there are at least 5 variants
of this motor. Some differences are subtle but they are still different. |
