Just your basic 51-B lathe from 1926. I answered a CL ad from Lodi, CA, drove out there to find a nice intact lathe. But "intact" is a relative statement, see below. It does have a nice eight foot bed and the Kimble "dome" type speed adjusting motor.

The birth certificate mentions a 3 phase, 50 cycle, 220 volt motor. However, there is no motor badge to confirm this information. The cert. does mention motor serial number "Kimble #46238". And that is one heavy motor!

The lathe left the factory with the following;
"1-#256 A floor stand"
"1-#258 D double pole rest - 36""
"1-#259 rest holder with clamp"
As I bought the machine, these three items were not with the lathe.
The lathe was delivered to Frank E Jones Machinery Co. at 1403 Santa Fe Ave., Los Angeles, Ca.
