Shortly after the end of my junior year in high school our wood shop and power tech shop met the same fate as our beloved metal shop, they vanished, though not completely. They were consolidated into a "technology lab" a few machines, some crappy computers, a welder with nothing to plug it into and some striped down mechanics boxes. This project was botched in so many was it would make you head spin. Anyway the machines that didn't go back into service in the new space were put in storage and after 2 years of nagging i finally got the district to put them up for auction, i was the only person to bid. I'm not certain of its age because it serial number badge was missing, but im going to guess it was manufactured between 1961 and 1963 due to the fact that the original dawning of the shop showed 3 such lathes and the shop was completely furnished, to he best of my knowledge, by 1963. Anyway this was a fairly easy restoration, except for the moving it part. Was taken completely apart, most parts were bead blasted and painted, new wiring for a VFD was installed. Never actually turned anything on it after the restoration, but used it extensively for 2 years while i was a student and it worked beautifully then after 40+ years of abuse in a high school, though i must say i was lucky because the teachers through out the years were very skilled at woodworking and cared enough about their shop to kept the machines in excellent condition, making the restorations much easier. This is one machine that id do almost anything to get back.
