This saw is one of the rarest Greenlees on this site: has a 36" table extension, the rare micrometer on the rip fence and a sliding table. The overall saw is 72" wide by 40" deep with a sliding table 20" by 40". The saw with the rolling cart weighs in over 1600 lbs. This was one of the last 495S made in 1952, however, the first of these saws was designed in the late 1920s. As a result they used much cast iron and did not take short cuts. The two large handwheels are set in the front of the machine and the arbor tilt wheel runs through serveral gears set in babbitt bearings. The saw itself has huge ball bearings including the rolling table has six wheels set in bearings 3 inches in diameter. The arbor tilt and the rip fence both have micrometer adjustments for amazingly accurate cuts. The saw came with the original miter guage to which I added a Laguna fence extension which makes for accurate, repeatable cross cutting. 5 HP direct drive motor on the arbor is very powerful but quiet. The saw can easily rip sheet goods 48" square and can crosscut 30"
overall. Of my machines, including ten Olivers, this is my favorite. It is strong, powerful and can be set up to be very accurate.
