I bought this from a fellow that was closing down his shop. I didn't really need another RAS, but I liked the look of it and it needed a good home. I tore it down and cleaned everything I could. The internal start switch was worn to the point that the motor would not start reliably. I rebuilt the split-phase motor by replacing the bearings, repairing damaged winding leads, removing the original start switch and using a remote Sinpac start switch.
The saw appears to be all original, and complete. The trolley bearings are a little rough, but work fine for now. I plan to keep the saw in its current 'patina', though I plan to build a new table for it soon. The mfg date was derived using Rick Antrobus' date calculator.
Though similar to the DeWalt MBC, there are some slight differences. The motor yoke casting is slightly heavier in the frame and the pull handle. The cast iron arm has a 'floor' above the trolley bearing groove, rather than cast ribs. The column is slightly larger diameter, and the column base is a heavier casting. Otherwise, many of the parts will interchange.
