A good friend of mine for the last 20+ years owns a Junkyard and when any old tools come in the gate he gives me a call. Last month he called me about an old Delta Band Saw that came in earlier that Morning. When I went down to see it later in the day It went instantly in my Van and back home into my Garage. -Ahem FREE! Now It's gotten a modest (6 hour) cleanup and a new Motor and wiring (most of it was missing) - I also noticed an Auction Tag on the blade guide. But it looks like nobody wanted the ol' Girl. To make a long story short she is now about 90% cleaned up and will be running once I get the belt size I need.. I'm trying to set her up to do both Wood and Steel with a simple blade/belt change jack-shaft setup. (since I do both) The beefy cast-iron 11" pulley I added was to replace the 8" sheet metal one from the Factory that was bent into junk from a fall (before me). Besides that there was NO other damage to the unit.. I also added a 4-plug outlet to the front for easy access and installed a lockable power switch to the top right pulley cover.. Another Vintage Tool Saved by me! and It's a perfect match for my (also 1946) South Bend Metalworking Lathe.. -Rob in NH
