Comments:
This Parks band saw was acquired thru an online auction. I do not know the exact born-on-date of this saw however the model M2 shows up in the 1962 and 1977 price lists in the VM archives.

Parks offered two different Wood/Metal band saw versions over the years, a model M-2 (older version) and a model MW-2 (newer version). The model M-2 has a duel range, fully variable (reeves drive) with hand wheel control in the ranges from 50 to 350 and from 700 to 4200 blade feet per minute. Model MW-2 only has 4 speeds of 118, 167, 221 and 3500 FPM.

The table on the M-2 measures 24” x 20” x 2” thick and is much beefier than the table on the MW-2 and the No. 2 (Wood only) which both measure 18” x 20” x (thickness not given but obviously thinner than 2”). Because of the extra size/mass of the table on the M-2 it includes an adjustable supporting leg. The M-2 table tilts from 5 degrees to left and 45 degrees right. Model 2 & MW-2 tables do not tilt left. A very nice feature of the tables on Parks 18” band saws is having two miter slots, one on each side of the blade. I’ve noticed some of the Craftsman versions do not have dual miter slots.

For its size this model M-2 has a relatively small foot print measuring 17-1/2” x 22”. I would guess the No. 2 and MW-2 models have the same footprint.

Shipping weight less motor and accessories:
Model No. 2 = 390 lbs.
Model No. MW-2 = 415 lbs.
Model No. M-2 = 500 lbs.

Note: I no longer own this band saw as it was sold locally.
