Viewed this machine at a shop in SW Washington. Apparently purchased from a piano factory. It was used to surface lids for baby grand pianos. The machine has two segmented infeed rolls, as well as the ability to set one side of the cutterhead higher of lower than the other for planing a draft into stock. The outfeed bed plates were removed for work on the machine at the time these photos were taken. Note the cutterhead has three staggered 24" knives per row instead of a single 54" one. Please excuse the crappy picture taking on my part. It was impossible to get an overall of the machine in one shot.
