History of the machine is unknown, no paperwork. Judging by the catalogs available on this site, and other photo submissions, this drill press was manufactured in the late 30's or very early 40's. When I got it the Machine was rusty and had been modified with a third pulley so that it could be run at reduced speeds. Someone on the site pointed out that the pulley was an original option and was intended to be installed in the inner bore of the column. So, I took another look at the part; after a little scrubbing I uncovered the same blue paint that covered the rest of the drill press. Also has optional collar to aid in swiveling the upper assembly. Paint is Duplicolor Dark Ford Blue Engine Enamel which is a decent match to the original (paint is a bit more glossy than the original - but that may be attributable to age - and original paint had a slightly more violet hue). Has a Westinghouse 1/4 HP 535662-D Motor (SN 7196424) which I repainted with Duplicolor New Ford Grey engine enamel. Has a Jacobs No. 33 chuck. I am using a Linemaster foot switch with the unit now. Very smooth and solid drill press. Photos were taken before I realized that the motor pulley was on backwards.
