This machine has a "black on brass" tag that reads "Brown Machinery Co., 2323 N. Ninth St., ST. LOUIS. MO.". Brown Machinery has been around as a machinery supplier since 1877, so I believe the band saw was purchased from them. The lower leg extensions were originally for supporting line shaft driven belt pulleys. The antique motor drive (oil lubricated bearings) and rough sawn wooden mounting deck were retrofitted by others decades after manufacture. Acquired from a private individual near Terre Haute, IN.
