I Had been looking for a lathe for quite a while when this finally showed up at an auction.
I paid 20 bucks for it with a craftsman half horse moter and the cabinet it was mounted on. It was painted with a thick coat of gray, and rust was starting to poke through.
But after I stripped off all the old gunk and repainted it with one of plasti-kote's many shades of matalic blue, I think looks pretty darn good.
Not only did I get a bargain on the lathe, the cabinet was perfect for both my buffers and grinders.
I shamefullly admit that before I discovered owwms I strongly considerd getting a horerfreight lathe. But needless to say I'm relieved I stayed away from that plastic and pot metel pile of scrap.
