I've been wanting a good grinder for quite a while and stumbled on this one. This one is a youngster in the scheme of things with a DOB of 1981. It came complete with its brass and Tool-a-Rama badges. Baldor still makes this grinder and has for quite a while. The new price for this setup is $1400.
The grinder ran fine but the dust collector needed a kick start and the bearings were running hot. Replaced the capacitor and put in two bearings. It was wired with 18 gauge wiring which seemed a little light, even though the two motors just pull 10 or 11 amps combined. But, with wiring, heavier is better, right, so it was replaced with 12 gauge.
It runs very smoothly and will be getting new stones and maybe a wire brush.
