Update April 10, 2015: I have just rebuilt my sander including having the motor rewound, replacing the bearings and shaft seal and painting it.
I just acquired this sander from Jeff Behan. At some point a previous owner tipped it over and broke the pedestal. In the process of repairing it the name tag was removed. I'm not yet certain which model this is.
Update: This sander has sleeve bearings. It's an S-3. It's been sitting in the corner for a few years now because the spindle socket was buggered up and there was a lot of runout. I finally had some time recently to address this issue. I had to make a tapered reamer for the socket because they are no longer available from State. I cleaned up the socket and now there is very little runout, and the spindles no longer pop out. I've moved the sander out to a more accessible spot, and it's taken its place as a usable machine.
