The jointer was orginaly purchased from a wire mill in Palmer Mass. The owner stored it in his yard for several years before it was purchased by my Father sometime in the mid 80's. It has set in storage until several weeks ago when it made a trip to my garage in Granville, NY. New paint and a good rust removal on the top and all I need is a motor and it should run well. The jointer has had the square head replaced with a round 3 knife cutter head. New babbet bearings must have been poured for the new cutter head because the rabbet shelf is not inline with the cutter head. The machine has a patent date of Aug 29, 1892 for the rabbet shelf. Original paint was black lacquer paint with white on the raised letters, which I have tried to copy without lacquer. Table is 7' long. It has number 4 stamped and filed into maost of the parts, however the fence has 3 staped on it. The numbers are most likly the unit number in a production run. Looks like the fence got crossed up with another unit.
