Another woodworking machine saved from going to the scrapyard. This machine also came out of the Shaftsbury,Vt. pine furniture manufacturing building. It was buried under a ton of 2"x 2"x 24" cherry
wood turning blanks that were water logged from the collapsed roof above. It took a friend and i almost
three hours to dig it out from this mountain of a mess. The mortiser will be going thur a complete rebuild in my shop.It was complete with the better table, fence and clamp. There is two old repairs on the foot pedal and foot pedal bracket that i will have to redo because they are really ugly! The mortiser weighs in around 1700 lbs.and its footprint is 3 ft. by 4 ft.The table tilts 30 degrees left or right, moves to the left or right and in or out from the column. The speeds of the stroke of the chisel
are 10,20,and 35 strokes per minute.I took these photo's as the machine was being torn down for derusting and rebuild. You will notice some parts are missing because they were already in the spooge tank being cleaned.
