This saw was listed in a local online ad. The saw in the picture showed large wooden blade guards covering most of the machine. From the serpentine top wheel showing I thought it was worth looking at. The seller stated that the saw had sat for 40 years and was left in the barn when he bought the home. He thought it was made in the 20s. JM Marston was in business until 1907.
The saw is in remarkably good shape. Other than a cracked, and easily repaired, table and a broken lower blade guide. The babbitt bearings are in great shape. The tires were dried and cracked so new tires have been ordered. I have started restoration and will post progress later.
