Comments:
I bought this as a used machine from a neighbor who could not recall where or when he acquired it. I've had it in a corner for 6-8 years and have only recently gotten around to attempting restoration.

In most respects, it looks almost exactly like the Boice-Crane no. 2309 saw documented elsewhere this site. The one major difference in appearance is that the K-J wheel guards are square, versus the arched guards on the B-C.

From what I have learned so far, Johnson saws were first manufactured in 1938. The Johnson line was acquired by Kysor in 1973 and, in 1985, Dake purchased the line from Kysor-Johnson. Thus, my saw appears to have been built between 1973 and 1985. Through an exchange of emails and pictures with Dake, I've learned that they did not acquire the V14 vertical band saw with the rest of the K-J product line in 1985.

This saw has a 3/4 hp, 220/440V, 3-ph, 1725/1425 rpm, Doerr motor. Doerr was apparently acquired by Grainger in 1969. It's not known if this is the original motor. A label inside the motor cabinet shows eight speeds (92 - 4100 fmp) but doesn't indicate motor shaft speed.
