Acquired at a farm auction in spring of 2008. As can be seen from the following pictures, the cabinet was mangled up pretty badly. The PO had installed a 3HP 3PH motor and cut a hole in the back panel with a torch. The panel was repaired using a pieced of 1/8" masonite that was cut to roughly fit the jagged opening. Fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin was then used to strengthen the repair. Krylon's "Make it Stone" was lightly sprayed over the area to blend in with the rough cast iron texture in the untouched areas.
The jointer bed was badly rusted and pitted with the pitting covering a large area and quite deep in some spots. I decided to have the tables reground at a local machine/manufacturing shop using their 36" Blanchard grinder. They did a great job - when I went to pick it up, the shop supervisor placed a straight edge on the tables and they were parallel and flat within .0016" from end to end and corner to corner. It joints straight and true and will make edge jointing boards for panel glue ups a pleasure.
I painted it with Sherwin Williams custom mixed enamel with hardner added. I used a HVLP conversion gun hooked up to a Craftsman 30 gallon compressor.
