This drill press purchase has been bittersweet. It was my introduction, (the hard way) into OWWM. I had a project that required a few hundred 2 inch holes and started looking on craigslist for used DP. I missed out on a couple of Rigid and newer Delta's and started falling for the beautiful lines on the older machines. Found this one about a 45 minute drive from home, the asking price was $125. I met the seller and powered up the press, my first reaction was "man that is spinning pretty fast" but I guess I can adjust it with the belts? I offered him $80 which he gladly accepted. Got it home and found this site and the .org site where I was fully informed about what I had purchased. I put it on BOYD, but found no takers locally for a trade, so I rat holed it while I looked (more closely) for another DP. My project changed and I no longer needed a DP, but I was hooked. I found a 50's Craftsman in the meantime and after a year or so of sitting around I offered it to a local OWWM member for a $50 donation to the .org site. He came by and picked it up, I believe for the cover and passed it on. Just after getting rid of it, I happened upon a DP220 in pretty good condition but of course without the belt cover. Although I credit this machine for my intro into OWWM, (which I am eternally grateful for), it has been a thorn in my side, even after it left my hands......
I was told by the previous PO that he got it from the phone company in RI, but I take that with a grain of salt.
