This was one of my first ever buys on eBay. It was located three counties away with a *pick up only*. I ended up bidding against an East Coast buyer who succeeded in driving the price up to the high $300's. Had he sat on his hands I would have had it for less than half of that.
I picked it up April of 1999. It had come from a school shop and was powered by a 3 phase motor. From the before picture you can tell it hadn't been well cared for in the last few years. It was all cosmetic though. I set about restoring it later that summer. It was my first restoration.
I found a Powermatic gold 3/4 horse motor and painted it gray. The stand was cleaned, sand blasted where there was a little rust and repainted. The jointer itself was completely disassembled, cleaned up and re-painted.
It's missing a vintage switch, a proper motor with the shaft condom sticking through the hole in the front and two thumb nuts for the back panel, otherwise it's as it was when it was sold in '57.
I have since found a *proper* No. 132 switch, LTA switch box and *proper* vintage switch plate cover. My friend Neener Dean has a *proper* vintage *condom ended* R/I motor we'll be trading for the Baldor presently sitting in the cabinet. I'll make the switcheroo some time in the next couple of months.
