Bought this machine recently from a small building about 20 miles from the old Moak plant. The saw had been sitting for many years and needed quite a bit of work to make it presentable and functional. Removed layers of paint including some awful slopped-on white house paint. Cleaned and re-filled the extremely rough castings (some of the worst I have seen, as bad as or worse than Powermatic) and applied a coat of automotive primer and enamel. I wanted a gray that had a bit of green but I ended up with a green that has a bit of gray. Looks OK to me, though. The machine has a 3HP, 900 RPM Lima motor that should have plenty of power, even with phase converter losses. I will likely replace the original Carter guides with a set of full ball-bearing guides eventually. I cleaned and lacquered the cast and turned aluminum wheels, and now I have a slight vibration. Time to balance the wheels! All in all, a decent machine.
