This saw belongs to Tom and Shirley Panka, who bought it used in 1964. Newly married that year, they had $200 to spend on furniture. After buying what they needed at a used furniture store, they had $60 left over, so they bought this saw.

The saw is Sprunger's very first design, an 8" tilt table saw. According to the history written by one of the company's co-founders (see http://wiki.owwm.com/Sprunger.ashx) this design was "replaced in 1947" by 8" and 10" tilting arbor saws. But our serial number data implies that this particular tilt-table saw is from '49 so it seems that they continued to make the tilt-table design for a couple of years.
