This was the saw that started it all. It was my grandfathers, who bought it new as part of a Deltashop combo in 1954. I remember it from spending time with him in his workshop when I was a lad. It has great sentimental value to me because of that.
When he passed on the saw was passed on to my brother who carried around for a while without really having a place or a need for it. It ended up in a neighbour’s garage, where I found it some 10 years later. It had been partially stripped; the motor, mitre gauge, and fence were gone. Someone had even tried to remove the top from the base. I asked my brother for it, and he was only too happy to give it to me.
I started looking on the internet for a source of parts to rebuild the saw back to usable status and that was how I discovered this wonderful site. I was able to download the manual with parts diagram, then use Ebay to find the missing pieces. After about 6 months of research, parts hunting, cleaning, and painting this was the result. I couldn't have been happier with it, it works so nicely. I get a wonderful sense of fulfilment whenever I use it because this is Grandpa's saw! That I rebuilt! For a year nobody who came to the house escaped a trip to the garage to be shown the magnificence that was my Grandpas saw. That was it, I was bitten by the OWWM bug and needed to find and rebuild every shop tool in existence.
I decided to set it up as a stand-alone unit because I found the Deltashop set-up a bit restrictive and wanted to use both the table extensions I found. I think it looks better this way as well. Since these photos were taken, I have found the proper Delta stand for it which improves the look hugely. Unfortunately, I haven’t got pictures of it on the stand. Sorry.
