I traded for this Homecraft 16" scroll saw from a fellow member on this site that I've done some horse trading with in the past with on a band saw. He picked the saw up while checking out another machine up in New Jersey...told me he could not pass this scroll saw up for $40 !
When I got the saw shipped to me in Houston it was in really really great shape overall just needing to have a broken off lower blade chuck thumb screw drilled out and removed... then a good cleaning/wire brushing and a new urethane paint job (US Paint's Awl Grip)...
I was able to find a 1952 manual for this saw on this site to print...this scroll saw has a 11" x 11" cast iron tilting table...4 inch arbor drive pulley...runs on either a 1/4 or 1/3-hp 1725 rpm motor and weighs in at 72 lbs. This saw requires a 3 inch motor pulley to operate the saw at 1275 rpm's/cutting strokes required with a 1725 rpm motor.
This is a really well built machine for what Delta was selling them for back in 1952 (like $42.95)and built to last.
The old gal will be around to make some more saw dust for many more years. I've got this saw mounted to a home made aluminum angle stock stand with a G.E. 1/4-HP motor mounted under the saw. All electrical is new, as is the belt and two new machined/balanced steel pulleys.
The serial number is AH 2119 and per Delta via their Hotline(800-223-7278)was made in November of 1952 in Milwaukee,WI
