Comments:
I atttended an auction in August 2007 and bid on this lathe. I won the bid at a whopping price of Two Dollars. I haven't had the time or place to do any restoration until the winter of 2009. Upon the disassembly of the spindle assembly I noticed that the bronze bushings had no wear. Either the bronze bushings were replaced at sometime or the lathe had very little use. The thrust bearing was extremely dirty and was rough feeling when rotated. I tried cleaning out the dirt with no success, so I replaced it. The color was a dark gray and during the disassembly process I noticed a green color. I assumed that this was the original color. Wanting to keep everything as it was first manufactured I matched the color at Sherwin Williams to the green that you see in the picture (its's ugly and I may change it back to dark gray someday). I had to add a motor at cost of $50. I since have used the lathe and it works very well.
