Comments:
I purchased this machine locally off of a Craigslist ad. It was made by Walker-Turner for Sears and has the Craftsman label on it. As far as I can tell, it is identical in every way to the SM-700/705 sander that Walker-Turner sold under their own name.
This sander is in remarkably good, original condition for its age. The paint and decals are original. When I purchased this sander, it was on a rickety, home-made stand. I found an original Rockwell/Walker-Turner stand from a later era and painted it to match the sander. The stand has an adjustable table underneath the sanding belt so that you can use it as a stroke sander. I also bought a Walker-Turner miter gauge to go with it. At the moment, I running a Delta motor on the sander, but I will swap this out when I find a suitable Craftsman or Walker-Turner motor.
