On June 24, 1887, the Old Main building on the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) burned. It was rebuilt in 1888 from plans by the architects Bruce and Morgan and contractor James Smith. This machine was brought (or bought) to Auburn, AL and set up in the basement of Langdon Hall to run the woodwork for rebuilding Old Main (which would later be called Samford Hall). J. A. Cullers of Auburn, Alabama also a contractor later purchased this and other equipment and moved this equipment from Langdon Hall to a shop he set up near the intersection of Gay and Samford Ave in Auburn. His shop was cleared out and auctioned in the 1980's and the equipment was purchased by Husky Kirkwood of Gold Hill, AL. He later suffered from buyers remorse and offered the equipment to Walter Clement of Notasulga, AL. Walter and a friend purchased the equipment and moved it to it's present location. Through the years it has been used to run specialty moldings and paneling for friends and even a few paying customers. It is still set up to run off flat belts which are powered by a gasoline power unit. It makes a pleasing chattering "Buzzzzzz" while running!
