This machine was salvaged out of a storage facility in North Carolina and restored by AMERICAN MACHINE of Shelby NC. It is unique in the respect that unlike other belt and disc sander combination machines, this one was designed to be used as a stroke sander also. The Walker Turner stand had an adjustable height table under the belt so the user would use a sanding pad on the lower section of the belt to press it against the work piece on the adjustable height table. As was the case in those days, many purchasers opted to make their own stands. Several other interesting features include the 4 step pulley giving the sander 4 speeds, the 2 adjustable cast iron tables, one for the belt sander and one for the disc sander, with slots for the Walker Turner geared self indexing miter gauge.
