Comments:

Shown is a wonderful early Vermont made wood lathe which appears to have been manufacture sometime between 1830 and 1860. Iron builders plate cast J. W. A. PATRICK MAKERS. LUDLOW. VT. Laminated wood bed capped with iron or steel ways. I did not have a tape on me that day so would have to guess that the bed measures between ten and fourteen feet.

This machine among others are on display in a water powered grist mill in Weston Vermont. The collection includes a Vermont made wood lathe, a "Fay" foot operated mortising machine made in Keene NH, a Massachusetts patent wood frame band saw, a Lane shingle machine, an up and down saw mill, a mechanical reciprocating cordwood saw, a large collection of tinsmithing tools, early carding machinery, and two turbines made in Claremont NH. At this time all machinery is on static display. Work is underway to restore one of the turbines.
